The seating re-covering has been done

Its been a while. We’ve been locked down here in Ontario, the most locked down area in North America, but don’t get me started. Camping has been a no-go, and going into a shop to get parts has also been a no go. I tried to order the fabric online, but, it came in a completely different color than it showed on the site, so that got sent back. We came out of lock down and I got out to the fabric store today.

I went to Fabric Town on Danforth near Main, and asked them for fabric to redo the cushions in a camper. When the two people working there said, “yeah we get people with campers all the time”, it’s a good sign I have the right kind of fabric from their recommendation. I picked a light-ish grey. The goal is to match with really anything, so, when I do the curtains and bedding which will have the colour in them.

I don’t sew, so, I elected to just staple the fabric to the plywood that supports the bottom of the seats and backs. It worked out well. The seats had some stoppers in them (or 1 stopper and 3 empty screws that the stoppers had broken off of) that I have to remove to get the existing fabric off of. Wasn’t too hard to do, the corners aren’t perfect like they would be if I had sewn them together, but, I will keep the old fabric if I ever want to use it as a pattern for new ones.

Off for our inaugural camping trip for at the end of the month, so, gotta get the basics done before then. The last of those basics to do is hook up the water system. Watch for that post!
