The cabinets and flooring are out. All set for painting.
I ran my sander over all the faux wood veneer just to give the paint something to grab. I bought a TOPELEK Mouse Detail Sander for this purpose. Just a quick sand and cleaned the dust off and then we’re ready to paint.
The paint I’m using is Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Base Primer to prime the cabinets, and Behr Premium Plus Ultra Cabinet & Trim Interior Semi-Gloss Enamel. I was going to try and get something tinted, but, because of our current state of lockdown, it was unclear if I would be able to get it tinted when doing curb-side if I needed more, so, I went with untinted. White cabinets will make the space brighter anyway.
I’m using an inexpensive paint sprayer from Amazon: DEKOPRO Paint Sprayer. I had a bit of trouble getting the paint the right consistency. In order for it to work in the sprayer, the paint needs to be thinned out. My first interior coat was way too runny. My Second coat was much better consistency, but, I put too much on in places and it left me with drips. I need to be a little thinner on the paint, and less heavy-handed. I’ll sand down the bumps and such before I do the next coat.
I did the inside and then a couple of cabinets, and ran out of paint. I should have got a full gallon, but, I only got a small can of paint thinking it wasn’t a huge space, and the person at Home Depot incorrectly agreed that was the right amount. We are in Lockdown here in Ontario, AGAIN, so, I put an order in with Home Depot, and they couldn’t/wouldn’t do same-day. I spent the rest of the day prepping the cabinets and doing some misc things around the camper.
UPDATE: The paint sprayer stopped working just before I finished painting. I cleaned every last spec of paint out of it and it still didn’t work. I think the seal inside the paint container failed so the paint wouldn’t get pushed up to the nozzle. Probably serves me right for buying a cheap one. I would have done one more coat of the cabinet paint, but, it looks ok without it. Sprayer got returned to Amazon.
